Apologies to all those waiting for a first bulletin
(and sign of life ) from Moondance.
Delayed in Weymouth 2 days while essential last
minute modifications made, and technical hitches overcome; Iridium and Laptop
failing to talk to each other. Those of you laying early bets on which part of
the boat would be first to stop talking to the other were probably
caught out by that !
Wednesday morning and away at last...Moondance
slipped her mooring in Portland on an appropriately full moon. Passage plan
0445am departure.
A bright and sunny channel crossing; but motoring
all the way. 14 long hours to Guernsey. Having lost two days we are now obliged
to press on harder. Moored outside the main harbour for quick getaway and meal
ashore, 'Mexican' by the quay.
0900 out of Guernsey and on to Trebeurden....again
mostly motoring. One hours indulgence with the MPG! Late afternoon and the heavy
cloud cleared to reveal blue sky.In to Treb' for our first experience of this
seasons French cuisine (Moondance to award stars as appropriate) Not as
impressive as the coincidence with Bastille day celebrations ! The local brass
band and most fantastic firework display on the beach, Vive La
Republic!!
Thursday, and a full on sail to L'Aberwrach. Rough,
very windy, chasing our tails all the way. Exhausting but good. Traumatic river
mooring in high winds.Heading for Brest tomorrow to collect additional crew
from airport.
