Salt and Stuff

As the GRIB forecast predicted, winds were somewhat stronger overnight and have gradually reduced during today (Position   45:40.9459N 38:36.7931W   ). It's turned chillier and this morning was definately another tea and porridge morning.  Neil will particularly appreciate how good that can be (since our stove gas problem in Halifax denied us both of these then).  Maybe the half eggcupful of sea water instead of a pinch of salt in the porridge made the taste difference.

There is a career to be made on TV espousing sea water in recipes instead of salt (It will make no objective difference, but that probably isn't the point for TV cooks).

There was 6 inches of brackish water at the bottom of the forward sail locker today.  It has been some days since I checked it. How this got in there with the efforts Neil and I made to stop water ingress is unclear.  Some of it may have appeared by way of the 'deck wash' pump and hose that is located there and which we have never used.  I think the pink is from antifreeze that was put into every system (including the deck wash system) when the boat was winterised last autumn in Halifax. All but the last 1.5 inches now bailed out using a bucket on a rope.

The motion of the boat has been unusual and 'wobbly' this afternoon.  I've been on deck looking at the rigging and at other deck systems, but can find nothing to explain it.  It may just be the point of sail with a combination of both cross and following seas.
