Hello once more,

Apologies for the delay in updating you. Things happened that will be described herein.

For two to three days prior to yesterday, the winds had not been in a favourable direction for making progress, as you can no doubt tell from the map on the blog. Yesterday and today we have managed to be in a position to make more progress in the direction we want, but with stronger winds than we had expected. Unusual conditions today are of very strong winds with a rapidly rising barometer rather than the usual falling, with interesting clear skies.

Quite a bit of yesterday was spent sorting out extensive water ingress.  This turned out to be due to about a ton of water (calculated by bucket counting) filling the forward sail locker (a large enough locker to contain a crouching adult) and then running back into the accommodation.  The water gained access to the sail locker via the new hatch closure that we installed to prevent this sort of thing !  We then drilled and screwed into the sail locker hatch to try and force full closure of the hatch vent – which had allowed the ingress.  We wait for calmer conditions to see if this bodge has been effective.

Today we’ve sorted out the consequences of the water ingress with a lot of sodden stored clothes, and a number of damp cushions.  Neil is now sleeping in Ruths’s bunk – only hers and JVAs are dry now.  Thank goodness that seems to be behind us.
