Up to now the weather has been varied but the most common situation has
been bright blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds - but still two jumper
weather.
The Azores high is more southerly this summer than last. The series
of low pressure systems which usually track across the northerly parts of the
north atlantic are thus tracking lower this year. Yesterday’s GRIB
forecasts predict an area of low pressure, and thus strong winds, passing over
Hamsi's likely position on Tuesday evening (today) through to Wednesday
afternoon. I'm thus blogging earlier in the day, rather than later on
today. I'm not sure if it will be easy to blog tomorrow. The
satphone arial needs a clear view of the sky to work, and the conditions might
make it difficult to rig it up.
On the plus side there was another larger pod of dolphins of mixed ages all
playing in the wake after breakfast. There continues to be a lot more bird
life too.
Only three vessels have passed by in the last six days. ‘Amstelborg’
an hour ago, 'Stena Companion' during breakfast yesterday and 'YM Movement' on
Saturday just after teatime. It's nice having the new AIS system give names to
these otherwise anonymous companions.
