Now arrived in Baiona at the end of 2 weeks cruising from La Coruna to
Baiona. We'll leave the boat for a while before taking her down to
the Canaries.

From Coruna we went a few miles to Ria de Betanzos, before a day close
hauled along the Costa del Morte to Laxe. The weather was distinctly
British, and only 2 of us braved the water to swim. Next day was a 20
mile hop to Camarinas, where we were very glad to find space in the
marina. A brisk F6 sprung up and we had the usual fun watching various
boats resetting dragging anchors at midnight. By morning the low had
passed and we had gentle winds for the next stage round Cape
Finisterre. We close-hauled in flat water across the ria inside
Finisterre and found a delightful, deserted anchorage at Ensanada del
Sardinieiro. We had heard many locals tell us how the weather improved
south of Finisterre - and so it proved for us. The sun came out and
notherly winds now prevailed. We now entered the Ria Baixa (Lower
Rias), and spent a couple of nights at Portosin. Temperature was now
definately rising and the the girls were keen to spend some time on the
beach. Geriatric sailing now was the order of the day - sailing
downwind with just the genoa. Very lazy.

We found a rather windy anchorage in the Ria De Arousa surrounded by
rocks and Batea (the platforms on which mussels are grown). Into Ria
de Vigo, we found a fantastic long beach - spoilt only the fact nobody
was wearing any clothes. We waited until dusk when everybody had gone
to enjoy French cricket in the dark and a run along the beach.

Our final anchorage was a lunch stop off the Ilas Cities - the water
was clear enough to see the anchor on the bottom. Then the mist rolled
and we buoy-hopped into Baiona avoiding the ferries using AIS.

Its been nice spending time in a part of Spain where Brits are not
common, We needed to attempt to communicate in rather pathetic Spanish
- which would often be met with lots of high-speed Galician dialect
