The weather's going to change on Monday with waves of up to 10 ft so we decided to leave Port Elizabeth, Bequia (Beckwee) and head for Carriacou (Caracoo) tomorrow.
We had an amazing snorkelling experience today, we'd just got in the water to cool off and were heading towards a  little headland lovely for spotting different varieties and colours of little fish, when suddenly a Manta Ray came eye to eye with us it circled round us and then swam away, very scary, I nearly drowned Dave trying to get behind him! A couple of seconds later we swam over a huge sting ray that was when I thought I needed to get back to the boat and on the way back we saw a sea snake, won't be swimming there again!  The Manta Ray was amazing about 10 to 12 feet across from one wing tip to the other, black on top and white underneath, it was amazing. At first I thought it  was a giant turtle because we've seen a couple of turtles in the bay but they were only about 3 feet long, then I could see its scoops on either side of its mouth, I couldn't believe I was seeing a Manta Ray.  My heart was still pounding when we swam over the sting ray omg let;s get out of here!  Then we saw the sea snake about 12 feet beneath us it was maybe 2 or 3 feet long. Too much1  We looked up Manta Rays on the internet when we got back and they eat plankton, small fish and shrimps, and are one of the more intelligent fishes they like humans and are not harmful and just like to be nosey.I don't know whether they live in the bay or are just coming in to get out of the way of bad weather. Tthe barb on the sting ray can be lethal as that's how they stun their prey before eating it and the sea snake turned out to be an eel so not so scary after the event!
Just bought a new wifi arial, it's great to be able to sit on the boat and write, it's selling point is that in good conditions it can get a signal from 5 miles away.we'll see.
