Went with friends Pat and Mike (met them in Gomera
2 years ago) to St Johns the main town on Antigua on the local bus, very
efficient they only leave the bus station when they're full! and
experienced our first roti, the local fast food meal, a corn meal chapatti wrap
with meat and a curry type sauce, delicious washed down with an ice cold ginger
beer! mmm!
Then went on to the south of the island to English
harbour where Nelson hid his fleet, very pretty, there's a classic boat regatta
taking place there over the next 2 weeks so we may bring Guardian Spirit
there. We had torrential rain that day but it was lovely warm rain!
Very much needed as there has been a drought in
the islands for about 3 months, we had about 3 inches of rain in the
dinghy.
Had our first swim in the Caribbean sea
yesterday with our friends Arnd and Bente with their 2 children Siri and Lars, a
German family , our neighbours when we were in Almerimar, Spain, so
warm it was lovely. People here are so friendly and Happy! Also met John
and Janet also from Almerimar!
