Position: 38:51.94N 001:18.85E - Es Jondal, Ibiza
We topped up with fuel in the busy
little marina in Formentera, had a quick nosey at a few superyachts,
one with a helicopter perched on the bow, and then set course for the 3nM hop to
Ibiza. We found a cosy little cove to anchor near the airport ready
to pick up my mum and then launched the tender and attached the
outboard. Seven and a half months sat on the guardrail in pretty corrosive
conditions and she started first time! Cue a huge grin on Chris's
face and a few high speed trips round the bay, "just to make sure." We
showered for the first time in a week and thankfully Chris had a shave -
the Steptoe look just wasn't doing it for me.
Chris did a quick recce ashore -
The Blue Marlin with it's bassy music audible on the boat was apparently full of
young rich kids drinking pink champagne (I'm surprised he came back), and
there was a restaurant next door but no shops. No chance of stocking
up supplies after our journey.
Mum arrived yesterday and we
popped along to a little place further along the bay for a late lunch, taxi-ed
to a nearby shop for bare essentials and then had a barbeque at sundown.
Mum much prefers it at anchor than in a marina, although I think she was having
second thoughts this morning after a bit of rocking and rolling on a swell last
night.
It's her birthday
today and she thinks they've all come at once after a refreshing swim off the
boat this morning. Chris and I got the scrubbing brushes out to have a go
at DecaDance's bottom, but we let mum off for today. She's been warned
there'll be no such special treatment tomorrow though!
We'll be moving
on later to find a nice restaurant for a special meal tonight, a
bigger grocery store and WiFi so I can post these blogs and sort out a
whole load of chores. The chart-table laptop's had it so I can't blog via
our sat phone so apologies to those of you that look out for the blogs.
Thank you also for your lovely emails on our mailasail account. I'll get
around to replying to everyone individually, but in the mean-time we really do
appreciate those of you who keep in touch. If it's been on our personal
email addresses in the last week we haven't picked them up yet.
Happy Birthday
Mum! x
