We're heading further south later this afternoon, down to
Lagos. Matt and James are booked on a flight from Faro on Sunday as they
have to return to finish their yachtmaster course. They don't need to be
back until the 8th but there's a really yukky low coming in from the Atlantic
which means we won't be able to make the 4 day trip to the Canaries in time to
fly them back from there. We'll be sorry to see them go and they're not
really looking forward to the sub-zero temperatures back home.
Chris and I stocked up at the 'Jumbo' supermarket yesterday
morning. I love wandering around foreign supermarkets - but this one was a
bit too busy and really expensive. The fish counter was entertaining
though; huge piles of salted cod and some really weird looking red fish with
massive eyes, definitely creatures from the deep. Yesterday afternoon was
spent with the crew in O'Neills, a nice traditional Irish pub - we'd rather have
spent the time in a nice traditional Portugese place (especially as a carafe of
local wine is cheaper than a pint in O'Neills) but for WiFi it was
either there or MacDonalds. We've really
enjoyed Cascais, but it's not quite warm enough and we're
impatient to get to our final destination - as is Ryan who, unlike Matt and
James, wants to go home.
