Going along nicely, sun's shining after a grey, damp night and morning. The
Duogen is charging the batteries well and we have not had to run the engine
since we left Horta. 970 miles to go to Lizard Point and then 160 more to
Portsmouth - short distances in comparison with what we've done, but it
still feels a long way, particularly with the threat of bad weather, the
closer we get to home. There are certainly more ships around - one changed
course last night to avoid us (without being asked!) and one was going to
London, or so the AIS said, but was heading south! The AIS is brill,
particularly at night, to help sort out the risk of collision - it even
gives us the name and phone number of the boat if we need to speak to them.
Usually they are very pleasant and helpful - certainly a number of other
yachts use them for wather forcasts. We've chatted to them about radar and
our visibility - I think it breaks up the watch for them as much as us.So,
back to fishing and reading and home soon.
