Well, we're nearly there. ETA varies between 19 and 22 hours - it seems to have been that for ages. There's one other boat on the horizon, presumably going to St Lucia, matching us for speed and course, and a load of stars, now familiar friends but still so many we can't name. (Why aren't star charts luminous so you can read them at night?)

There's a strange feeling of return to reality, lists of things to do and get fixed, thoughts about clean clothes and washing to get done, and trying to plan meals using the bits we still have. There are loads of tins, (inc foie gras), packets of ham, cheese (including a lump of roquefort) and bacon so we're not exactly going to starve. There are still lemons for the gin and tonic and even emergency chocolate, ginger nuts and fruit shortcake biscuits. The boys are dreaming of beer and rum, in large quantities, and I think we're all waiting for the moment when we can stop being responsible for the boat and each other.

The things I'm most looking forward to are loads of showers and hair washing, a bed which doesn't rock, sleeping the right way round instead of across the boat, sleeping for more than 5-6 hrs at ago, loads of water for washing up and cleaning and the second and third glass of wine.

I shall miss being at sea, the waves coming up behind us, flying fish, dolphins and whales. There have been very few birds, 2 egrets, 1 tern and a couple of unidentified ducks, but I expect we will see some soon. It's been good to spend time on watch at night, just having time to sit quietly, either to talk to John or listen to music on my ipod while John does the log and the daily positions.

So there are my thoughts for the night, we'll soon be there, but I'll only believe it when we're tied up to the pontoon!

Hope you all slept well and love to you all, Bernie
