Still on our way, 14 days done, about a week to go, we reckon - possibly one
of the slower passages to the Azores. We've done 1400 miles, motored for 78
hours used 239l of tank water and have plenty of water, food and fuel left
at the moment. The biggest problems at the moment are a creak/knocking in
the stern and my reputation as a gardener is in tatters - my bean sprouts
have turned to mush, my sprouting lentils have failed to sprout, the peas
started and then stopped - the only thing to grow is the cress and even that
is slow. Any ideas?? I think it's too cold for them and we should go back to
the Caribbean. Sadly, we can't measure the sea temperature, or maybe we
are - the Raymarine speed/depth guage says it is -4 C, so icebergs could
exist. Last night was cold, damp, rainy and darker as the moon comes up
later every night, it could have been the Solent - we really have come to
expect better - if you could lay on a bit of summer for when we get back, it
would help.
There seems to be an intermittent problem with mailasail - if any messages get sent back, please resend as we do still have the same address etc and they do get through sooner or later - it may be the satellites or the Bermuda Triangle.
