One week into the trip, 124 l of tank water, 42 engine hours and only 631
miles with 1447 to go - could be a long trip. Yesterday, we had the company
of 3 yellow-billed tropic birds, flying around the boat, twittering and a
pair of great shearwaters came to inspect us. We actually saw 2 cargo ships,
chatted to one of them, so all in all, it was a pretty eventful day!
Today, we've got just about enough breeze, wind would be an exageration, to
try flying the cruising chute with its nice new sock, from the new bow
fitting - it seems to work, pushing us along at the dizzy speed of 2.8kn for
a wind speed of 4.1kn so not too bad - at least it's quieter than the jib
flapping. The plan is just to keep plodding along - the only bit of wind at
the moment is over by the Azores!
Thank you to all those who've emailed or texted us - it's always nice to
know there is a world out there, beyond the horizon, much appreciated - keep
them coming please.
