Mon 22nd October 2007      La Linea

Arrived in La Linea after an unexpected night sail, as a result of a Navionics anchorage having 165 feet of water! As we came in, we picked up a huge sheet of plastic round the prop and so after anchoring, Bernie donned wet suit (water temperature 17!). Then started the hassle of finding the spinnaker pole, now it appears in Gibraltar, just round the corner, but we couldn’t get it because of customs. It appeared that this bay was the crime capital of Southern Spain, with dinghies going missing regularly and so the friendly people on cat called Mambo took us ashore, and more importantly, fetched us back from shore after a trip to Gibraltar. It later turned out that Mambo was also an ex-Sunsail boat as was a third one in the anchorage.

Eventually, on Tuesday, we went to Gib and collected the spinnaker pole while Becky and Chris went to Gib and went up the rock and played with the monkeys.

All in all, a good day.
