Uskomaton meno ollut koko päivän.
Hallittu, mutta miesmäinen.
Länsiluoteinen tuuli on pysynyt yli kymmenen metrin
lukemissa ja n. 10 solmun nopeutta on voitu pitää yllä.
Tietenkin kaikki irtain on köytetty
paikoilleen.
S/Y Anyan kokoinen yli 80-tonninen alus on
juhlallinen kulkuneuvo näissä keleissä.
Miesmuistiin ei ole tällaisessa oltu
mukana.
Miesmuistihan on empiiristen tutkimusten mukaan n.
kolme vuotta, ja S/Y Anyan Huippuvuorille suuntautuneesta koepurjehduksesta (http://artzi.invianet.com ja linkki,
jossa mainitaan "Magdalene-projekti") on kulunut
vuosia jo enemmän.
80°N ylitettiin juhannuksena 2001.
This has been an abso-bloody-lutely great day
for sailing: NW wind has been an almost steady 10 m/sec (with nice gusts)
helping us to maintain a speed of 10 knots and more.
The gusts are the reason why we have secured
loose items all over the boat.
Such a speed is what we are looking for when
sailing with this lovely vessel.
Some of the crew still remember the
unforgettable test sailing to Svalbvard ("Spitzbergen", http://artzi.invianet.com and the link
to Magdalene -project) at Midsommer 2001, when we
were facing even more demanding weather conditions with real high seas,
wind speed speeds nearly 20 m/sec and SOG for long periods of time more
than 10 kn.
That time our goal was to cross the 80°N and that's
what we did.
