Elektroniikkapuolella

- on varmistuttu navigointikoneen ja sen varakoneen toimivuudesta.

- on asennettu Transas Navigator –ohjelmiston viimeisin saatavilla oleva versio (NSP25) ja viimeisimmät merikortit (WF31)

- on varmistuttu siitä, että satelliittidatayhteydet toimivat kahdelta eri koneelta (niitä ei kuitenkaan käytetä navigointikoneilta)

- AIS (Automatic Identification System) on havaittu toimivaksi: näemme nyt karttanäytöllä radiokantaman alueella olevien kauppa-alusten tiedot, mm. nimi, suunta, nopeus jne.

We are still finalizing the boat for leaving August 16 2006 at 0900.

We now have updated Transas Navigator to NSP25 with WF31 charts.

The software is now in the main navigation computer as well as in another identical system.

We also have made sure that both Inmarsat and Iridium work fine (both voice and data) with two computers that are not used for navigation.

As a new Transas Navigator feature we have added AIS reception: we now can see every significant ship within radio range.

AIS reports the vessel’s name, call sign, speed, course and other information.

And all this is shown on the navigation screen making it easier than before when we have to guess what the targets on the radar screen might be.
