CRUISING IN THE CARIBBEAN JAN/FEB/2010

The temperature is always around 30 degress C 90 degrees F here so plenty of time to do fun things. We have had some very posh neighbours, seen water so clear you could almost drink it and so blue you can hardly believe it!

We ended up in St Lucia after crossing the Atlantic and it was from here that we visited many other island – all beautiful in their different ways.

We met some real characters as well and everyone is very friendly. They are not well off and all are scratching a living from whatever souce they can get it. Whether its coming round the boats with fruit and veg or bread, fish and anything else they can sell you. There is laundry services direct from the boat, ice supplies and water supplies.

The boat boys are very anxious to get you to let them tie up your boat for a few dollars and on the docks they will watch your dinghy for a few dollars. These are Easter Caribbean dollars which are approx 4.25 to the pound.

We asked some boat boys to watch our dinghy in one bay ( it would have been difficult not to) and for 5 EC dollars 3 of them sat with the dinghy whilst we were away. (we gave them 10 EC $ in the end) They are pushy in places and you have to discern carefully. However we took the view that we would rather give them money for performing a task than give them charity.

Here is some random pictures of our adventures to date:-
