Yesterday evening we seemed to be teased by some light winds and set sails once again at 1830hrs only to loose this wind altogether at 2300hrs but we had managed during the short respite to make an average of 5 knots so well worth doing.

After just half an hour we found some reasonable wind again and started sailing again with mainsail and jib as appeared to be 60 degrees on the starboard side, this picked up more until we were making 8-9 knots so we believed to be out of the doldrums.

Forecast was predicting that the wind would come round from behind so we set the tradewind sail again initially on just one side and then set on both sides dead downwind which is where we are now but winds are much lighter than forecast so we are once again making just 5 knots.

We have now just 78 miles left to the Cut in Bermuda and the Nav Instruments are suggesting an ETA of early hours so inclined not to stress and hope that our final approach is in daylight tomorrow in time for the rum tasting evening that we are booked out on.

We continue to try our luck at fishing and Mark did get a bite this afternoon but alas was the one that got away. There is lots of weed around which makes fishing difficult.

Big event of the day was Mark’s announcement that we had a serious problem with the fridge. It transpired that this was the lack of chilled tonic for nightly G&Ts. Says a lot about our provisioning that the two items that we made sure we had plenty of was fresh lemons and tonic!!!

Seems like a very chilled day with the crew just relaxing in the final run into Bermuda.
