A massive milestone in our voyage! Yesterday we passed the half way mark at
1,470 nautical miles, we celebrated with a lovely bottle of chilled Tattinger in
the ships champagne cooler (something every boat should have) and also some
delicious cake that Michel had made with broken biscuit base, cream and
pineapple a real treat.
The daily routine goes on and watch after watch for such an extended period
of time are pretty tiring but we are all managing and spirits are high, we
persevere with th fishing but to no avail, we need a new strategy. As we move
west time clocks are getting pretty messed up we are still working on GMT
whereas local is now -2 and by the time we arrive will be -5, so meal times are
a little skewed, by the time we arrive we will be having breakfast at
midday, lunch in the evening and evening meal at midnight and of course we are
now dipping into pre dinner drinks about 5pm in the afternoon, but in the
eternal words of Jimmy Buffet it's 6 o'clock somewhere!!
Last nights watches were uneventful, but the wind picked up from the
previous day and with the trade wind sail poled out in front we made 6-7 knots
most of the night and thankfully Henrietta the Hydrovane has given up sulking
and started to prove her worth as she kept us on track most of the night giving
us a welcome break from hand steering.
This morning we had another beautiful sunrise, we are really spoilt and as
I tap away the count for miles left is diminishing, now 1,370 to go and I have
started to even read the Rally guide for thinks to do in St Lucia, really
looking forward to our arrival but also really enjoying the experience of such
an adventure at sea.
