Today had been frustrating, the winds that we started with faded early in the morning so we changed sails and raised the trade poled out on one side and made the most of the feable winds of only about 6 knots making someimes 5 knots of speed which seemed like a good result.

Eventually the wind veered round and in an effort to make more speed we downed the trade wind sail and upped the code zero which worked well for a while and we could see that we were making progress on other boats around us. We toiled all aftrenoon with this sail pushing along at 2-3 Knots per hour,

Finally at 2000hrs I was raised from my bunk with the complaint that what little wind there was had moved around onto the nose. I finally cracked and on went the motor with the inevitable penalty on arrival in Bermuda. In the last 24 hours we have made just 110 miles so very painful progress.

On the bright side catering on board was much simpler and Mark managed a great chicken caserole, kicked off with a couple of rounds of G&Ts and knibbles. We did also manage our first game of many no doubt of contract whist with the first strike going to me.

My next watch is 2230 so here's hoing that we can motor out of this wind vacuum in the next few hours
