We left Les Saintes after two great days to head up to the main island of Guadeloupe and made quick progress across the Canal Des Saintes arriving at the light house off the South Western tip just after 8:30am, it was striking how quickly the wind died in the wind shadow behind the island and we therefore motor sailed north up the coast seeing only a few anchorages.

The beach at Maledure was busy with day trippers to the marine park and we eventually settled upon an anchorage just before midday and then motored across in the tender to snorkel off the island which made up the reserve. I had an ear infection causing trouble so stayed in the boat whilst the others explored and it was a really great experience by all accounts.

In the evening we went ashore and found a very rustic cafe for diner chez Olga with a limited but sufficient dinner choice
