Le Havre to Southsea 18.07.2011- 21.07.2011 49:29:25N  00:05:50E
For three days we just sat around eating, drinking, and chatting waiting for the weather to change each day the weather forecast was doom and gloom. John and Alice (on USS “Ariel”) were seriously considering shipping the boat back to Baltimore in the US to sell it and kept trying to locate English speaking shipping agents who would give them a positive ‘Yes or No’ as to whether it was a financially viable proposition. I did not think so but hey ho if money is no object, what the hell. They were still waiting for confirmatory phone calls at 12:30hrs on the 21:07:2011. The day we had chosen to risk crossing to the UK. In the end we decided to go on our own and leave them to it. We said our goodbyes and motored out into gloomy overcast English Channel. Once again the visibility clamped down and we had difficulty following the buoyed shipping channel and with a strong incoming tide we seemed to be sliding sideways and backwards. After a bit of struggle we finally got on track and after an hour of leaving harbour John called up from “Ariel” and said they were following us and were around half an hour behind us. They quickly caught us up, slowed down and led us home to Southsea. We arrived at the entrance to Langstone 17 hours after leaving Le Havre. A good time considering we had a head wind virtually all the way. It was good to be home. Needless to say we both slept very well until lunchtime.
