Awoke to bright sunshine and a clear blue sky. After breakfast we walked up into the town and wandered around the market. Lots of stalls selling womenâs dresses but very little in the way of gents stuff. The fruit and veg section of the market was doing a roaring trade. A lot of customers were buying really huge lettuces and bundles of asparagus. Neither of which looked anything like the English variety. We sat outside a coffee shop and watched the world go by for a while, then went into the big supermarket and did some food shopping ( well a bit of food and two bottles of spirits, some tonic water and a dozen beers) and Maureen found some cheap fleece material that she could make hats and scarves out of, to go in the Christmas shoe boxes . Back on the boat an Australian woman came along and spoke to us briefly (for about an hour or so, well it seemed like it anyway!) and then she invited us up to her boat for drinks and a chance to swap reading books. Being an avid reader who enjoys a tipple now and then, the invitation was accepted and 10 minutes later we were aboard Jenny and Lyleâs boat being talked to. Her husband was as talkative as she was. The only contribution to the conversation I made was âYes pleaseâ and âThank youâ when the wine bottle did the rounds. I did get some good books off them though and they were very pleasant. When we finally managed to drag ourselves away Maureen said that she had been shown their bathroom which was a horrendous bright mustard yellow colour. Lyle told her sitting on the loo was like sitting in the middle of an egg yolk. Jenny said that she wanted a new loo seat that she had seen in the supermarket, that was a bright turquoise colour, which would blend nicely with the existing colour scheme (really?). I spent the best part of the afternoon scraping off the old flaking varnish that was on the starboard (right hand) side rubbing strake (I explained what that was a couple of days ago). Lyle and Jenny came along the pontoon and asked if I would like to borrow his electric sander. Blimey not half! He promised to it bring along tomorrow so with that I stopped and went back to reading. After dinner I walked up to Mcdonalds to use their free WiFi facility, to send this missive. (if you donât know go look it up!)
