The Captainerie Rang the fuel barge for us. Its is normal for only the commercial traffic to refuel in the mornings but it must have been quiet today as we were to be allowed onto the pontoon after 10am. So left the Paris marina at 10.30 – (cost £30 per night. Not bad as it had everything you needed. ) We squeezed out through the small lock with a new, old style, Dutch sailing barge and a couple of motor cruisers and joined the main River Seine, and turning left. We pottered down river to the fuel barge and filled up not only the tanks but four fuel cans as well. Apparently it some distance before we reach another pump. Although we could always get small amounts from town garages provided we are prepared to cycle around to find them (and I don’t get lost again!). 11:40hrs arrived at our first lock of the day, Port a l’ Anglais. The second called Ablon at 13:10hrs and the third called Evray at 14:50hrs. Every lock today we seemed to have to wait for a barge to catch us up and share the uplifting experience with us. In one of the locks a huge barge that was (fortunately ) behind us suddenly lost control of his stern and he swung across the lock and banged against the opposite wall. Thank goodness we were not in the way. We came through the last lock of the day at La Coudray at 17:00hrs and stopped for the night by a yacht club 45 minutes later. Total distance travelled about 40 kilometres
