We did some routine boat maintenance etc then we went up to the town of Tournus and had a wander around the extensive market. Not a typical French market at all, the cuts of meat looked recognisable. Had lunch on the boat and then we heard the approach of an American style flute and drum band coming along the riverside. We went ashore and saw it was obviously a school band, very good they were too. 12:45hrs we left the mooring ( a bit earlier than intended) in order to allow a “bumper boat” to moor up. We were originally making for Pont du Vaux but changed our minds and turned left up the very narrow (and shallow) River La Seille. Passed through two locks the first manned by a couple of students, the second an unmanned one that I had to do all by hand. I was quite pleased that I didn’t mess it up and we passed through easily. We then found ourselves in a much wider (and deeper) river. We tied up stern to at the Haulte Nautique in Cuisery at 16:00hrs. (Once again I mentally patted myself on the back, having reversed the boat accurately into the berth without any dramas). Very busy little place with a camping site alongside. AND its got a WiFi connection!! The temperature today has been perfect, a little cloud and a refreshing breeze. We had intended staying just one night but we have been told there is a “Blues” concert tomorrow in the local hall. That sounds good so we will give that a “go” and stay the extra night.
