Very low tech to keep the data volume low.

Microsoft mail on the laptop, a satellite phone using the iridium network and a wireless "red box" from mailasail to act as a firewall and make sure the laptop can't do anything else over the very slow internet link (it does other stuff too but that's all I use it for).

It's a bit Heath Robinson and one wave could have meant the end of the updates but we survived.

Plenty of boats out there using Starlinknans keeping Elon Musk in the manner he's become used too.  About £100 / month keeps the internet with you worldwide.

And here is a copy of a weather grib too that I download each night.  I get a page each for the area I designate and the times I ask for.  So for this picture I probably asked for the position a midnight today, 6am and midnight tomorrow, midday for the following 2 days.
Not perfect but it works.  And Tim was looking at the bigger, longer term and texting routing advice to stop me acting on partial information.
