Falmouth
Thursday 2nd May 2013 11:30 BSTDrop buoy and motor slowly out of harbour, on increasing revs to speed up the whole boat started shaking! Motored slowly back to pontoon and after diving under the boat found that one blade of the propeller was missing! After much discussion and telephone calls (via Maggie's phone, the only one with a signal) we set off for a very slow motor (2.5 Knots) to Falmouth( 50:09.0N 005:04.0W ), where we could be lifted out. Moored up at Port Pendennis Marina at 19:30. Friday 3rd May 2013Ordered new propeller from Rustler Yachts. The best delivery available is Wednesday 8th May. Jacqui joins the Crew. Monday 6th May 2013Mike Ewen departs for home - temporarily. Wednesday 8th May 2013 17:00 BSTHead up river to be lifted out at Rustler's Yard - very blustery, but lifted out at 18:30. We were given a lift to our B@B and then on into town for Phil's Birthday Party! Thursday 9th May 2013Very windy, 60 knot winds forecast. However the new propeller was fitted and we were lifted back in with the tide at 17:30. Very wet and windy motor back to Port Pendennis Marina. Friday 10th May 2013A wet and very windy day - waiting for crew. Saturday 11th May 2013Another wet and windy day - yet another visit to Trago Mills! Maggie leaves us to go home and back to work. Sunday 12th May 2013Mike Ewen returns, Grant Smith joins. Weather improving. Monday 13th May 2013Up at 07:00 BST - a quick trip to the fuel barge then out into Carrick Roads to swing the Flux-Gate compass. 11:00 BST - we leave for France, in Westerly Force 5, on a beam reach. Tuesday 14th May 2013On passage, entering Chanal De Fort at 04:00 BST and reaching Cameret-Sur-Mer ( 48:16.7N 004:35.3W ) at 09:00 BST. We tie up and collapse into bed - hardly anybody has slept due to rough seas. Wednesday 15th May 2013A quiet day in Cameret - the wind has eased considerably and swung north. While we wait for the seas in Biscay to abate we take a walk around the picturesque coast line. |
