Yvonne and I have been back in Europe for over a month now, Christmas and new year has come and gone. Its ffffreezing cold in UK and not much better here. Feet hurt wearing these new shoe things, and clothes seem so heavy.

We arrived in Madrid at the end of November, rented a car from the airport to get us to our house. We only spent a few days in Spain before flying to the UK to visit our growing daughter (shes pregnant) and Yvonnes dad in Mevagissey.

It is cold, damp and expensive, everything costs a fortune, heating, water, food, parking, public transport, you name it. It has been so good to see Susie and Billy, Yvonnes Dad and brother Stuart  and Jayne aswell as Rob and his girlfriend Berny in Spain. James our older son has flown in from Mexico collecting his Spanish girlfriend in England on the way, they are here for the holidays too, so we've had the whole family around us.

In a couple of days we fly back to the UK to see Susie again and we'll be close by until the baby is born. We'll be visiting Mevagissey again, Kent too, to see more friends and combining that with a London boat show visit.

I'm flying back to Venezuela and Chaser for 3 or 4 weeks after the baby is born just to check on things there, get some rays and warm up again. Then back to Spain in March; Susie and Billy move back to Spain then to build a new life there. Never a good time in a recession, though we moved to Spain to live in 1992 another recession period and we had 3 kids to care for too, still as we always said,  its a better place to be poor in, thats our opinion anyway.

Venezuela and the Caribbean are good too, travel they say broadens the mind, nothing is more true. Once upon a time I would have loved to live in or around Mevagissey, a pair of wellies and a shotgun, a small holding maybe, but not anymore. A charming place it is but not for me now, to many tourists, not enough local character, too much rain and cold. Yes, nice as these places are, there are better and we have found some, I'm sure there are nicer or different cities and countries too that we haven't yet visited.

Having the family around has been good, but they have their own lives and do their own thing, but we've decided next time we'll fly them out to see us, certainly a lot less expensive even if we pay their flights.

Spain still has a lot to offer, we have met some old friends and some of my ex clients, some of whom Rob has been working for,its nice to hear good reports of mine and his work over the years. Yvonne has a lot of friends in Moraira that she has met over the years in the fiestas, so its been good catching up with the local news.

Television we certainly dont miss, especially the new channels, doom and gloom or what? English TV, nobody praises anyone, its aways been the same, no matter how good you are someone always says, yeah ok, but he could do better. And if you do bad life is over! Living aboard Chaser we dont have TV, we watch DVD's movies, series, comedy, whatever, but little or no news, no soaps, and we really dont miss it or need it. Someone recently (between Eastender episodes) said to me 'but dont you get bored' , she had to wait for the commercials before I was allowed to reply, though the answer was brief, because we can never get bored, if we do we move on and visit somewhere else.

So now we're just waiting to see the new arrival in Birmingham. Won't be long now, here are some photos of the family, Mevagissey and Moraira.
