Spent the night in Sparks marina before parting for
Shoreham our last leg of this memorable trip. The marina is located just inside
Chichester estuary so in theory should be easy to navigate. famous last words as
the entrance was obstructed by loads of moorings and twisted and turned but we
managed it and spent a lovely last night in the marina restuarant. The sail from
Cowes was perfectly timed as we could see all the 1647 Round the Island
competitors. It was some sight especially the old classic boats (see picture
attached".
Our journey back to Shoreham was our last
challenge. I had an old chart showing two cardinal bouys for the shallows
outside of selsey bill. But there was only one which caused me to get them mixed
up and we were too close to the shallows. Dave who was acting skipper for the
final leg was not pleased. However we managed to change course and avoid the
trouble.
The whole trip has proved to be a great adventure
and Kate was there in the shoreham lock to greet us home.We all had our
memorable moments and all shared the same highlight. We managed to get to
Ireland and back all safe and sound.
Until the next time.
