hi all
left Tortola, BVI's Saturday 1st may with a passage plan
to The Azores. That's until the weather decided that would not be the plan. We
spent 24 hours travelling 100 miles to get 58 miles nearer The
Azores.
So we are now taking the traditional route via
Bermuda.
After three days we have entered the Bermuda High area
which isn't helping a lot> However we did manage 300 miles in two days - in
the right direction.
We decided to take The coconut man as well making 5 crew
altogether. See attached photo:
starting from top left is Dr Stan - the man- form
Bulgaria. Now a self confessed "Privateer". He eats mostly raw meat and sleeps
on hard boards in his cabin. Nevertheless a great guy to have on
board.
Next is Hamish who is an Australian Vegetarian (doesn't
quite add up to my picture of sheep loving Aussies) and is preparing for
the ARC 2010 with his own boat based in Lymington.
Bottom left is Chris from Cumbria. Completed the ARC
2009 crossing. A very friendly Chap not like most course and blunt beer
swilling northerners- note Mike Harris.
Piggy in the middle is no less than me a much travelled
sailor. 6000 miles with only 4000 to go.
Lastly we have Alan an accomplished sailor with 15 west
to east crossings under his belt as a delivery skipper. So what he doesn't know
about sailing isn't worth knowing. He's even taught me a few new
tricks.
so onwards and upwards to Bermuda hopefully with some
wind and no disappearing triangles.
best regards
