Our plan was to make for Weymouth from Brixham. A
relatively short trip of 40 miles. As per yesterdays sail the wind hadnt
come out to play and the mist and fog was a problem with only 50 yards
visibility.
Luckerly there was only a couple of boats coming up
on the radar so no big problem.
By lunchtime we were still motoring so lunch was
served and shortly afterwards as promised by the met office the wind swung round
from the east and roseup nicely. So nicely that we passed Portland Bill and
carried onto head for the IOW.
With a great tide and SWesterly wind we reached 9
knts going through the falls off Portland Bill. In fact we ended up too early to
enter the Solent.
So Swanage was decided as a stop gap to wait
for a fair tide.
Frank (of where is Frank fame) persisted with his
fishing but i knew we needed fresh bait to have half a chance.
By early evening we were all thirsting
for a drink but as we had a further 15 miles to yarmouth it was a premature
thought. Why not stay here on a mooring suggested Pam "i will cook a nice veggy
curry. What a good idea. Out came the beers finished off with an excellent
curry. I am mightily impressed and converted to veggie curries from now
on!
Next stop The solent
