One of the benefits of the 3 - 6am watch is dawn
and today it felt particularly 'fishy'. So, armed with the trusty rod,
heavier nylon on the reel (70lb, taking no chances) and the bibbed lure I set to
work just after dawn at 6am declaring to James ' I'm going to catch a
fish' = a dangerous thing to say as usually it heralds a complete blank.
However half an hour later the reel started singing so headed up to wind to slow
down and there was lunch, supper, lunch and another supper .......very
tasty the first instalment of fresh tuna for lunch today and we are now looking
forward to 101 ways of eating tuna.
Not much else has changed; I don't think we have
moved a sail more than a few inches of trim and the wind continues to lighten
with a flatter sea but still making 7 knots in blue skies and sunshine.
Hoping to be in the Azores towards the end of this week for a brief stop and
then on to Gibraltar.
One sighting of a whale spout yesterday in the
distance and again this morning there was a whale nearby but it never
re-emerged.
