I'm not sure what day we're now on so will leave you to add that bit in yourselves. Last night's big news was the unprovoked attack on Robin by a very brave flying fish ( presumably with a flying tackle ). It landed on his foot which he thought would need hospital surgery as it was 20 cm long ( the fish not the foot ).It was ceremoniously returned to the sea.
The night watches .once again performed well and overtook all vessels that we came across leaving a trail of destruction in our wake. I've learned not to let the trtuth get in the way of a good story . if you hadn't noticed. We put the clocks back again this morning so Neil and Scott got the early 4r hour watch instead of three but that meant that they got extra tea and coffee so it was worth it. Neil mentioned that this gas bottle was doing remarkably well and so 2 mins later it promptly ran out. we're now down to our last spare but think we'll make it to St. Lucia with some to spare. The night run has, once again , seen us cover a great distance with watches clocking 25 to 28 nm in three hours.
Today the winds have settled and the seas calmed somewhat but the swells are still too big foir the autohelm to cope with so we're hand steering all the time now.A little lunacy has now started to affect the boat at times amd today saw Ninky making a video which she'd like to title " RYA helming for female beginners" but which ,in all probability, will be censored. Neil and Robin decided to make a video " How to drink afternoon tea whilst balancing on a boat in mountainous seas and not holding on " which may end up on Youtube at some stage. Scott found this all so interesting that he went for a sleep,No change there then!We had some very good Madeira ( we think ) cake this afternoon but as most of the packets are in a forerign language it's hard to know what we're eating at times.
Rich is now bearing up well after running out of tobacco yesterday and even made fresh bread this morning to show what a good mood he was in. although I've never seen bread kneaded so hard or so long.
Great news for us today was that we'd beaten yesterdays run with an impressive 214 miles which means that we're romping along. We're making the most of it as we're due for less wind tomorrow and Saturday. We're on the last carton of milk now so the tea regime will change very shortly/ We have also got to the stage where we've listened to all the ipod music so much that we know all the songs now. We're even converted to Plan B and Rodrigo Y Gabriella and James now so many thanks Lee for the loan of your CD's.
Evening meal tonight alla Neil and Scott was Stewed steak( tinned ) green beans, fresh cabbage and Tinned new potatoes fried to resemble roast .
Ninky just spotted TWO satellites ( greedy ) in the darkening sky .
Gotta go now as the competition for the fastest helm of the night just started again with shouts of " ten point three ".
Neil
