Snugly tucked up in Cagliari Marina del Sol by 10.00 hours Monday 18th Oct, I can finally sit below decks to write without fear as poor sealegs and salt sprayed glasses inhibited earlier prose. Gastronomic highlight of the trip was not on shore - eat your hearts out Greek and Italian tavernas - but a culinary tour de force by my excellent shipmates Dave and John. To my fast recovering but still enfeebled self, unwilling to venture near the galley, they served my favourite dish (okay I know its not sophisticated) of bacon and egg banjo(s). Eaten while on the helm doing 7 kts close hauled in good F5 sea air, they tasted truly magnificent - and stayed in place.

Sagely skippered by the excellent Richard, this was a great crew and a trip where we have not sailed a single metre off the wind. Pack a banker's draft if you call at Milazzo marina. Would have liked to explore a bit of Sicily, but wise decision by the Skipper (unanimously endorsed by crew) saw us leaving promptly and now being snug in Cagliari in advance of forecast gale on the nose tomorrow. George the autopilot is glad too.

Two rather special nightwatches with bright moonlight, no radar contacts, wind warmish and sailing .7kts close hauled with spray flying. Now ashore for a spot of R & R in Cagliari, chaperoned by this splendid crew.
