If there are more typos than usual, please be forgiving, as I'm braced against the wall, the laptop is sliding down the table and every now and then an extra large wave lifts the bow up in the air before smacking it down hard onto the next. What happened to the sunbathing and dolphin watching!

Before anyone gets too concerned (Mother, I'm fine!) we are all ok (except for the skipper's slight cold) and surviving, although mealtimes have been quite the challenge (tables are at a 45 degree angle) and I don't think anyone got any sleep last night. Hatches have to be closed because of the waves crashing over the bow (and the incoming flying fish) and the cabins are boiling. Just trying not to be thrown out of my bunk was exhausting enough. Twice I made cups of tea for the crew (the offgoing watch makes tea for the oncoming watch) and twice I have ended up on hands and knees mopping up the galley floor.

Nonetheless, spirits remain high, helped by the stash of lollipops and the impressive set of speakers in the cockpit. And we're looking forward to bangers and mash for dinner!

Still heading south, hoping to avoid the worst of the weather and catch the tradewinds. Slow but steadier progress now.

Bruised but not beaten,
