With our new crew, Mary, Scott, Richard and Robin aboard we set sail from
Gib around 1200 local time yesterday to the accompaniment of a pipe band playing Auld lang syne and an escort from the new Cunard liner "Queen Elizabeth.
The first 10 hours or so saw us
hitting speeds of over 9kts in true Levanter conditions with a gusty F6-7
from the East, just what we needed to send us on our way out of the Straits
of Gibraltar.

Overnight sailing about 20 miles off of the coast of Morroco with the warm
breezes bringing the scent of N Africa (the nice ones) far out to sea, saw all of the crew settle nicely into their watch rotas.

This morning we awoke to slightly different conditions, very light breeze
from the NNE and not a cloud in the sky. Hoping to have some more downwind
sailing later in the day but the meantime the optimists on board are making
the most of the slower speeds by getting the fishing gear out... watch this
space.
