Friday 30th

Why a good day?

Well:

We left Grenada on time at 06:30
At 08:00 we saw a Sperm Whale blowing about 50 yards off the bow
At 09:30 we caught a landed a barracuda (on to tried and trusted fish lure)
At 11:00 we sighted a school of dolphins - not the common ones but ones which breach and land on their backs and have a brown underside. No dolphin book on board so not sure what they were
At 14:00 we caught and landed a tuna (on "Tallulah")
At 16:00 we arrived in Bequia - a journey of about 80 miles completed
At 16:30 swimming off the boat in 29 degree water

Fantastic winds, good boat speed and only two mild annoyances:

Said trusty fish lure, which has caught so many barracuda was lost - I'd like to think to a giant Blue Marlin, but possibly to metal fatigue on the tracer wire

We couldn't properly furl the prop - so it rotated gently for the whole voyage. Snorkeling down to it this evening didn't reveal any obvious problem so I'm a bit confused.

Being back in Bequia, without Alison, Laurence, Hugo and Imogen is a bitter sweet experience. On the one hand it is still an absolutely gorgeous island and anchorage. On the other, last time we were here was Christmas day en famille and it feels a little off to be here "solo".

Anyway, fish to cook and a journey up to Martinique tomorrow.....
