The End of the Rainbow

Saturday - the ARC closing ceremony and prize giving; steel bands and rum punch, celebrations in St Lucia ending in the way they started (and continued throughout). Alas we didn't win a prize but the flash of family competiveness found us saying, "well next time......." Tilly Mint finished 8th in her class of 16 and we were 53rd over the line...and we all know we would have gone faster and finished better with the Genoa

The children of the ARC were all called on stage for a rousing congratulation and standing ovation - Hugo tells me it was a slighty scary experience but he felt very proud. Immy said she felt shy and happy. Laurence said it was good.

Silver Bear won The Spirit of The ARC prize and we all stood and cheered. A little bit the adventure of each participant has rubbed off and become part of our own experience, that for us has been the spirit of The ARC. I can see why you might do it again, partly for the challenge of crossing an ocean but largely for the priveledge and pleasure of sharing it.
