A number of "Firsts" for the Tilly Minters

Today marked a bit of a watershed in our trip and the crew are much restored for the experience. For the first time today we.....

left Rodney Bay Marina and had a 12 mile round trip to Marigot Bay, we had a lovely gentle reach on the way there and an exhilarating motor sail back, almost head on into 20 knots of apparent wind, spray breaking on the bow. All quite a change from 2 weeks of down wind sailing across the pond. I had a grand time, it was lovely to be sailing our boat instead of cleaning/repairing it. It was the first time I had taken the helm too since we left Gran Canaria and I hogged it all the way there and all the way back. Just as we were approaching Rodney Bay I smiled at Skip and said "can I park the boat?"......"Do you really want to?" he said. "No", I said, "I just wanted to see the look on your face when I asked!!"

We had another couple of squalls, one right in the midddle of lunch. Hugo was well prepared as you can see from the photo.

Another firsts for the day - we moored the dinghy up to a palm tree

We're back in The Marina now, about to eat a hearty bowl of pasta  (which is definitely not a first for the voyage)
