So here we are just over a week into the trip and I have just filled in my first customs form. We came into St Peters Port in the Bailiwick of Guernsey at 1530 after a quick down wind sail from Cherbourg. For the first time on the trip the wind was good with 15-25 Knots from astern all day, Spectra lifted her skirts and fairly flew along. Well 7 knots, which isn’t bad for a fat bottomed girl. The Alderney race was reached spot on slack water giving us a clear run down the Little Russel to the finish line. Andy was on Mother watch today and kept us supplied with good fair as we sat around watching the world go by, oh and I missed filling in the Log much to Steve’s delight who has been crowing about attention to routines ever since. I of course have risen above the criticism like a phoenix from the flames. It seemed like good progress until the Condor Ferry came past doing 34 Knots which rather put us in our place.

So no problems today, we are tucked up safe in the marina and all ready for a meal ashore along with a drink or three.

By the way I have been chastised for not mentioning our first dolphin sighting yesterday on the way to Cherbourg, so here we go, “we sighted three dolphins yesterday on the way to Cherbourg”! They swam about and smiled a lot which dolphins tend to do.  I just don’t trust them by the way, I think anyone who smiles all the time is up to something.

Tomorrow we leave for La Coruna at 1800. The weather looks good and the swell is light so fingers crossed Biscay will be kind to us.

Next report from La Coruna 400 miles south of here on Friday or Saturday.
