Osare in Portugal

Osare

I'm back - from where I'm not sure but it is all
good and I seem to have ajusted to life onboard Osare absolutely and completely
as if the trip from last year never ended. Life onboard is not too
complicated, we rest a lot - very important, Erik fixes things because that
is what he likes to do whether it needs fixing or not, food is high on the
priority list and Portugese food is quite acceptable we have decided, except
that Erik is still looking for the perfect Creme Brulee with no luck what so
ever - and at this point we have eaten a lot of Brulees; flopsy ones, runny
ones, frozen ones, half cooked ones I can go on but there has been no perfect
ones. I suppose it gives us something important to focus on in our little
sailing life - the hunt for the perfect Creme Brulee for the captain. We
did however find the perfect port wine I seem to remember! What a
delight to sip beautiful vintage port at the merchants in Porto, what a
fantastic city we highly recomend it, lots to see and drink. We were
tremendously lucky with the weather the days we were in town, hot and
sunny. We even got to spend one day on the beach before the weather did an
about turn on us and the last few days it has been wicked - blowing 35 knots and
pouring rain. We certainly cannot do much about the weather so we hang out
with all the other Scandinavians here and eat, drink and be merry. We have
met a lot of super nice people, some slightly odd but then I suppose we all have
our peculiarities - or most of do anyway. Tobias is in great
form and after our daily battle of doing lessons he has the best time hanging
out with our friends. We are most eager to be on our way tomorrow but it
does however depend on the weather, we desperately hope for the wind to calm
down a little and hope for the waves to lessen a bit right now they are at 4
meters. Then we set sail for Madeira and hopefully great weather and the
white beaches of Porto Santo. Yes, life on Osare is hard going - we all struggle
but we shall persevere.
