We motor sailed an uneventful night.  Daybreak revealed the famous Cabo da Roca cliffs, topped by an imposing church and the huge statue of Vasco da Gama.  These majestic cliffs are held proudly by the Portuguese to be the most western point of Europe. 

Soon we turned into the Ria that leads right into the heart of Lisbon and then immediately left into the very new marina development of Cascais, by far the most luxurious and well-organised marina so far. 

Tiredness dictated a few hours of sleep before venturing out into the well-healed seaside town of Cascais, to explore its cobbled streets and café culture.  We relaxed the whole day, reflecting on the journey so far.  The crew booked flight tickets home, using a computer in the marina office and thoughts turned to finalising plans for the last leg down to Lagos.  We’ll shove off around 0900 hours and expect to be in Lagos sometime Monday morning.

We ate a typically Portuguese dinner al fresco and sauntered back to Oboe D’Amore for a good night’s sleep.
