David wakes each morning in a cheerful mood, despite the cold saltwater bath
he is forced to take every night, the sharp edge of the cockpit table that
digs into his back while he tries to sleep and the enormous effort required
to climb out of bed and dress. No, he is not in a concentration camp, he is
an eager member of Oboe's crew. "Are we nearly there yet?" he asks each
morning. "Not long now David, not long".

It's rough out here. There's no point pretending. But we are in for the
long haul and will sit it out. We continue to make excellent progress
towards Dartmouth beating hard into 30kt winds and are only 600 nMs out,
Midday Wednesday. Nothing for it but to hunker down, battle it out and
watch the distance reduce agonisingly slowly on the chart plotter screen -
marginally more exciting than watching paint dry.

Ryan sleeps or is he listening to Chris Moyles on his iPhone? No, he is not
laughing out loud, so I guess he is asleep, unless he is pretending. Umm,
time he got up and did a watch me thinks. Rob has struggled into his bright
(wet!) yellow waterproofs and has joined David in the cockpit for a right
royal dousing.

Hey it could be worse! We could be headed for the Mediterranean. Now
there's a thought. Moules Frites and a glass of Chablis in Antibes on
Sunday anyone? (I know someone who'll be there - right Sian! Learned to love
'em when you worked there, remember) ...
