We were recommended this island by others and elephant riding was In the cards. Unfortunately the SW swell got up in the night and none of us had a very good night's sleep. In the morning the weather looked a bit threatening so we abandoned our elephant riding and left at dawn for the Phi Phi group which is where the "The Beach" was filmed.
It was good job we did! We passed through two big squalls which lasted a couple of hours with torrential rain and wind. The visability went down to nothing and the area was full of fishing boats so we had to be utra careful! If we had been in the anchorage with an on shore wind there would have been big trouble!!
We anchored in the bay at Phi Phi Don. Full of tourist boats swinging everywhere. We had a pleasant couple of days . Took a long tail boat to Phi Phi Lai ("The Beach") It rained heavily so we didn't see it in its best light but beautiful! Thai massages on the beach after all our exertions. (13 quid which would have cost 100 in London!)
Off tomorrow to Phuket where we leave the rally and have our leaving party.
