Our journey to the Las Perlas Islands was an easy sail of six hours with a fine breeze though it was rather overcast. We have found deserted islands and beautiful sand beaches with abundant marine life here. We saw several groups of dolphins who chased under the keel and seemed to want to play, also a family of Sperm whales surfaced near the boat but we were relieved when they continued on their way. The pelicans fly in formation when they are fishing and we watched them force a large shoal of small fish into the bay where we were anchored. The sea boiled around the boat, silver and red, as the pelicans dived into the shoal. At night we have phosphorescence around the boat and even in the day bright blue winking algae float by.
