The past 24 hrs have been spent tracking a huge ridge of high pressure stretched across the Atlantic. This has given us more Westing than previously planned but the advantage of getting us into some lighter winds (20 knts) rather than the 30 knot stuff that was building the sea and making life on board quite difficult. This morning our plan has borne fruit and we have a more gentle ride (yeh) – we are going to fly a twin headsail with the poled out genny if winds stay like this and someone is going to clean the heads. Then its hunt down those trade winds!! we should be amongst them by Tuesday all being well. Finally Nige managed to get some sleep – a landmark moment and we are all rejoicing.
