Soft air changeovers  54.16.95s  36.30.48W

Charter yacht Seal left Grytviken and Cumberland Bay for the south anchorages, Wanderer III took the trip with them. That same day in soft air Ron returned from the south anchorages on his American single hander Relentless. Soft air days are changeover days in the island life of this far away place. Turns in the wind beckoned, it was time to pack, re pack and stuff even tighter for the run ahead. Motor yacht Polar Bound set East for Cape Town. Winter was arriving, regular snow formed all over the ground, yacht and ropes.

We had repaired our autopilot the best we could, the boat was good, baking left the shelves full of food. Twenty days or so ahead, maybe an anchorage at Tristan de Cunha, the main target is Cape Town. Fingers crossed for good winds and few ice bergs.

No fish and chips on Friday 30th April for us.

It was time for another go at escaping South Georgia.
