Isla Hunter Canal Victoria Jan 8

Hollinsclough - Is the World Round?

Jan 8th Fast wind again down Canal Sarimento, we sighted a tiny fishing boat hugging the shore off Carrington Island. Many seals in the water, mini Loch Ness monsters jumping like giant black slugs from the waves. They say divers of old used seal skin before wet suits so the Nessies must have been warm enough.

We took a short cut between Taraba Island and Newton Island. Five miles of nail biting depth sounder watching between a spider web of kelp and rocks. Isla Hunter reared up as we returned to the shipping lane of Canal Victoria. Made a port and starboard marker buoy and came about to the head of a waterfall tumbling from the mountain. Our afternoon anchorage is lined with more kelp and rock islands for another Patagonian wilderness breath taker. Anchor forward and two wide stern lines backed up into the wind and tied beyond the shingle beach. Steamy mugs of tea just in time for the evening rain to play musical tunes on the sun canopy for a crescendo finale of nature.
