I came on watch this morning at 0400 with full foul weather gear on.  Yes it looked that bad, but all fizzled to naught. The wind is now round to the NE so we,re were beating into it untill 1400 when it ceased altogether and we're now sailing the diesel.

We have 871mls to Horta and we could make it early next week with a little luck.

We have just used up the last of fresh fruit and veggies so it's cans from here on in. We still have plenty of water, but diesel is a concern if we have to motor a lot.

We noticed a lot more sea birds today and a dozen or so dolphins were playing around the bow as we were letting out a reef in the mainsail.

I'm looking at the maritime chart here and I see that we passed through the sohm abysall plain and all looks to be about 15000' deep then a couple of hundred miles to the NE there's a blue dot called Milne Bank it can only be a mile in diameter at the most yet its only 300' below the surface. It's either some new growth or some really hard stuff. I know I need to get a job!! But there is not a lot going on her today.
