Peter
Fri 13 Sep 2019 16:19
Gwenhyfar arrived back in her home port of St Peter Port on Tuesday afternoon 11th September.

Now we had the task of readying Gwenhyfar for her 10,000 mile circuit of the Atlantic! Spares were loaded- Engineering spares- Extra running rigging and sail repair kits - along with some specialist ( hard to source ) long term food items, coffee beans - teas.

The main halyard was reeved with a 2:1 halyard which was much smoother. The rig was given a close visual inspection and the wind instruments re-calibrated. The Iridium and weather routing software was checked and configured. Grab bags were loaded and all safety gear checked.

By late afternoon we were ready. Evening at home in fluffy beds! - Followed by 5 am alarm call. We were driven down to the Town QE11  marina - drizzle and light westerly wind. We cast off all lines waved cheerio and David and I motored out at 8 am on the high water. Log reading 2807. The start of our two man voyage to Portimao, Portugal.
